PPTC Thermistor is a circuit protection device that can provide repeat protections for short circuits and no need for replacement. PPTC is manufactured from a non-conductive crystalline polymer insert with highly conductive carbon particles. When short circuit or sudden increase of power flow, temperature of the PPTC device will raise dramatically, therefore increase the distance between the conductive carbon particles to raise the resistance in order to block current flow and protect circuits. After faulty condition disappears, as the temperature of the PPTC device drop, it returns to the low resistant condition immediately therefore no need for maintenance or replacement. Compare to traditional fuse, PPTC device is smaller in size, easier to use and has wider range of application.
